Dump truck Traineeships
Traineeship/apprenticeships in the mines include learning dump truck jobs.  Dump truck jobs include driving into and out of the area of mining activity in one of the largest trucks on earth, most commonly the CAT 793.  Typically, this type of employment in the mining industry involves working 12 hour shifts on a fly in fly out position while driving in and out of the mine with raw natural resources from the mine.  Dump truck companies typically require an MR license or an HR licence. Traineeships are hard to come by and its often best to seek alternative employment for a way to enter in the industry. Once your working in the industry it will be alot more easier to seek employment in this area.

Heavy vehicle fitter apprenticeships
Traineeships/apprenticeships in the mines are available as heavy vehicle fitters, learning how to repair large trucks, needed for transporting from the excavation site in a mine.  This type of training is quite important in a mining environment.  Trucks are needed to keep up the constant flow of activity into and out of a mine.  Without trucks to do the job, valuable time and money are lost. Its recommended to apply for a simliar position where you are based now and start getting experience. There is often more positions available for people with some basic experience.


Boiler maker apprenticeships
A boiler maker is another of many traineeship/apprenticeships in the mines.  Tasks vary alot for boilermakers from day to day. Idea to start getting prepared today under take entry level courses in TAFE to prepare yourself. If you have vast experience as a boilermarker with references to back it up, a trade qualifications may not be required as the potential employer will test out your ability in their working environment.


Jumbo operator Trainee
This is one of many particular traineeship/apprenticeships in the mines which give experience inside the mine.  A jumbo operator has the ability to use a “face drilling rig,” to drill into areas of mining.  Holes drilled are later used for blasting activity in the mine.  Learning the skills of a jumbo operator takes good motor skills and the ability to correctly use “single access levers, two axis joysticks, and various push buttons.” 


Fitter and turner apprenticeships
Trainees in this position learn how to repair machinery such as pumps, motors, and gearboxes.  Maintenance of such mechanical pieces can take place in any number of locations.

Carpenter apprenticeships
Traineeship/apprenticeships in the mines as a carpenter require trainees to learn how to repair, install, and construct various structures throughout the mining industry.
