Labourer jobs in the mines
It takes a diverse set of labourer jobs in the mines for a successful mining operation.  This highly coordinated effort of employees requires differing skill set and educational background.  Each position requires an equally important job either working in the mine or the jobs which indirectly affect jobs completed within the mine.


Drillers offsider
Labourer jobs in the mining industry include the job of a drillers offsider.  This position requires that an employee work alongside the driller, a separate job.  A drillers offsider ensures the machinery used to extract minerals is maintained and assists the driller the operation of the drill rig.  Other duties are pre-start checks, fuel machinery, clean up of site and prepare the drilling product ready for the geologists to pick up. 


Sample preparer
A sample preparer is one of many labourer jobs in the mines which typically requires no experience, to start, and gives valuable experience.  Sample preparers have the duty of working in a lab environment looking at samples of minerals and soil.  This particular position requires some aptitude in areas like mathematics  and computers.


Surveyor assistant
A surveyor assistant works directly in the mine with the surveyor, surveying future areas of mining activity.  An assistant has the duty and knowledge to put together and take apart necessary equipment used for taking accurate surveys. Typically surveys down holes that have been drilled by the exploration contractor with their drill rigs. 


Geologists assistant
A geologists assistant is another one of the labour jobs in the mines. Working along side a geologist or you might be working along the exploration contractor to carry out the menial tasks during exploration drilling. Drill rigs produce sample at various depths and its normally up to the assistant to obtain an accurate sample from each metre of drilling, bag it and then drive them back to the yard each day ready to be analyzed in the laboratory. Other roles can be assisting a geologist in a active mine either open pit or underground.

Cleaning jobs
Cleaning jobs are one of many labourer jobs in the mines.  Employees clean facilities where mining employees on fly in fly out positions typically reside in temporary housing units.  In addition, cleaners might work cleaning offices on the site of the mine.  Some mining companies give employees with cleaning jobs a fly in fly out position while others require employees to have secured accommodations, outside of the mine, before becoming hired. 


Kitchen jobs
Kitchen jobs normally involve working in food preparation areas.  This work is typically completed in the mining camps large commercial style kitchen with a cafeteria style dining hall, commonly referred to as a mess hall.  Kitchen jobs normally require a good understanding of hygiene and cleanliness, as well as the ability to take on duties requiring repetitive food preparation.
