Karratha Mining Jobs

Karratha is a mining town which is located approximately 1,535 kilometres north of Perth and . The Karratha town is mainly known for its lucrative iron ore industry and the largest shopping centre in the north west. Karratha’s economy is principally built on offshore gas supplies and iron ore deposits.

When combined with industry based attractions such as the local iron ore, salt mining and export operations, together with the North West Shelf Natural Gas Project, Australia’s largest natural resource development, Karratha provides a perfect base to experience some of the most stunning natural and man made attractions around. Karratha is the regional centre for many State Government agencies. Services with a wide range of specialty shops, banks, churches, private businesses, a hospital, two secondary schools, five primary schools, a theatre complex, cinemas and a TAFE college. The town was named after the cattle station from which the land was reclaimed for development. The word karratha in local language refers to a good country or soft earth. Karratha is mainly composed of 9 suburbs which are: Bulgarra, Pegs Creek, Millars Well, Nickol, Nickol West, Baynton, Shay Gap, Multaga, and one industrial suburb, known as both the LIA (Light Industrial Area) and KIE (Karratha Industrial Estate).

Western Australia’s (WA) West Pilbara Coast and its thriving hub Karratha are home to a large mining and industry complexes producing salt, iron ore, copper, fertilizers and natural gas. Often referred to as the ‘engine room of the nation’, some of the world’s largest privately owned railways are also located here. The region generates approximately 15 percent of Australia’s national economy through exports, taxes and royalties.

The tremendous growth in the iron ore industry in the 1960s led to the development of Karratha. Even though the town is relatively small, there are tons of Karratha jobs available for local residents and Australians living in the outskirts of Karratha. Oil and mining Karratha jobs form bulk of the available vacancies for Karratha jobs.

The specific Karratha jobs engineering positions that job seekers can apply for include senior project manager, contractor, piping engineer, civil supervisor, site engineer, mining construction structural supervisor and civil engineer. One can always look for Karratha jobs postings on the local newspaper or in the offices of specific companies and government agencies.
