Dump Truck Traineeships | Getting Job as a Dump Truck Driver

Becoming a dump truck driver is one of the most popular positions in the mining industry. Every dump truck driver is expected to meet certain minimum requirements. One is expected to go through an extensive traineeship before they can be employed as full time dump truck driver in a mining company.

The first part of training usually involves classroom intensive program wherein the trainees are taught about rules and regulations that a dump truck has to follow apart from the information about the various types of truck they might drive. The classroom program also emphasizes on the do and don’ts while driving a dump truck and gives the candidate information about the pre and post trip inspections.

The practical training which follows immediately after the classroom program consists of about 120 hours driving experience. The practical, behind the wheel training provides the candidates with various maneuvering skills, safe driving skills, working in different conditions like night, rain, dust storms etc.
