People seeking administration jobs in the mines have several options for rosters and housing. Since there is so many mines spread over Australia there might be a mine located near to live where you are now. Otherwise the Fly in Fly Out – FIFO option is a valuable proposition for administrators as they can enjoy the free flight to the mine site and live in a fully catered mining camp, work for a certain roster stipulated the particular mining company in a single stretch and then fly back home for a few days/weeks off. This lets you enjoy the city life on your roistered time off and with a fat pay cheque in your pocket. More rosters are becoming available and working 9 days on and having 6 days off is becoming a very popular roster. There are longer rosters available with different mining companies which offer the ability to save more money.

Mining industry in Australia expects the administrators in the mines to put to use their organizational, financial, auditing and administrative skills. Administrators are expected to manage, mentor and pass on their years of experience and acumen to a team of younger professionals with motivation and enterprise.

Administration jobs in the mines are primarily concerned with the day to day operation of the company just like a company back in the city. An office assistant takes care of the office errands like ordering and maintaining stationery, ordering tea, coffee & other refreshments, provide sales support like placing invoices and orders etc.

A Book keeper / Accountant is responsible for accounts payable, book keeping, claims and settlement, accounts receivables, salary payments etc. A HR Administration Assistant is in charge of the human resource management. They are involved in recruitment and training, health care and insurance, roster maintenance etc. Most of the jobs require exposure to computers and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Finance, Admin and HR managers lead the finance/ accounts, admin and Human Resources respectively. They are solely responsible for coordinating, delegating and supervising their team and its activities. A managerial position is a prize catch job among administration jobs in mines.

The packages for admin jobs start at between $55000 to $120,000 depending on position and previous experience. Get into the mining industry, where the average salary is $90,000 plus benefits.
